Spaces of Deliberate Pause
A kitchen for the neighborhood, an open living room that welcomes connection
Anchored in neighborhood interaction, this project softens the boundary between inside and out, transforming an elongated plan into a shared, symbiotic living room for the street. By "yielding gaps" that invite spontaneity, it lets social encounters slip free of fixed seating—coffee in hand, conversations drift and gather. The open layout releases the city's mood outward, sharing fresh-brew aromas, terrazzo-edged thresholds, warm light, and greenery with the pedestrian flow—turning everyday passage into communal pause.

This is a community hub grown from the seams of the urban fabric. At the entrance, an old utility pole extends inward, becoming the visual spine of a 16-seat communal area, where strings of lights flicker like the city's restless pulse. The cool tones of concrete and vintage white tiles accentuate a serene pastel blue palette, while green-and-white striped custom seating evokes the shifting shadows of street trees.
